21 Peanut Butter Sandwiches . . .

I made 21 pb & jelly sanwiches today!! The kids had to explain something in writing, so I figured that how to make a pb&j would be something that they could all explain. At first I had sandwiches that had the jar of peanut butter on top of the bread, or the bread still in the bag. Some kids even wanted to enjoy their sandwich while it just sat there on the napkin!! In the end, they all smashed the bread and eat their sandwiches. All of the kids were able to complete the task. I'm pretty proud of them. Have a great 3 day weekend. Have fun and be safe!

Welcome . . .

Hi new students and parents! I can't wait to meet you all! I hope that we have a great year filled with lots of fun activities and above all . . . LEARNING!! It is my hope that you will be able to utilize this website and that it will be a useful tool for you this year. I will use this site to cover important events, homework, and spelling words for the week. Please check this website weekly if you can!

I found an awesome website called http://www.spellingcity.com/ . . . let me tell you . . . this website rocks!! The students can use this website to practice their spelling words for the week!! The kids need to click on the student block and it takes them to a that has a blank spelling list. In the right hand column there is a text box that tells you how to use the site. This part is important. To get to our spelling lists, the student needs to click the Find Your List link. Then it will take them to another page. On this page they will just need to enter in my last name: Tuttle. This will take them to yet another page that has a large list of spelling lists. The lists are categorized by the story that we are reading and the group that your child is in. All you have to do is then click on one of the choices: Test Me, Teach Me, Play a Game, or Print. I think that this will be an awesome tool for the upcoming year!! We will also be accessing this site at school, too!

See you soon!!

A note from Mrs. T . . .

Hi! My daughter is having surgery today (she’s having her tonsils and adenoids taken out), and because of this I will be gone for the rest of this week.

There will be no homework, except for Spelling and I would like them to continue to read books for Read Across America. The kids have read almost 10,000 pages so far. That is really great, but some kids have no miles yet!! They need to make sure that they have 500 by March 3. I won’t be taking the kids’ reading logs this week because I will be gone, so they will have to turn them in next Friday.

Also, we have been learning our Multiplication Facts at school. There are tricks that I have been teaching them along with teaching them the basic concept of Multiplication. It would be really helpful for the kids to practice their facts at home. Thanks for your help.
If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail: andreajtuttle@gmail.com. Thanks again.

READ ACROSS AMERICA CHALLENGE

It's Read Across America Time!! I am soooo excited and so are the kids! I sent home an informational flyer giving the gist of the program, but for those of you who haven't seen it . . . here is the info:
I have challenged the kids to Read Across America. For each page of a book, magazine, or newspaper that they read, they get a mile towards going around the world. The class' goal is to READ AROUND THE WORLD before Mrs. Nutt & I READ ACROSS AMERICA!! The kids need to read approximately 19,000 pages and Mrs. Nutt and I have to read about 4,300 pages. The kids are already excited about this program . . . you should see a Reading Log come home and all that I ask is for you to initial your child's log when they read at home. I take weekly totals and I will be sure and post the results to this blog site! Happy Reading Everyone!!

By the way, the kids need to read a minimum of 500 pages in order to be invited to Dr. Suess' birthday party on March 3! Thanks for your support!!
